Quinceanera

Last Saturday night our neighbors next door had a Quinceanera party for their daughter and we were invited to the celebration.  Not knowing anything about this type of party, I went to Google to find some answers.  It is a celebration in the Hispanic culture when a young lady turns 15.  So I set off to find a way to make her a special card and happened upon a retired stamp set called, Quinceanera that was available on E-bay.  I probably will not have a need for it again but just wanted to make it special for our young neighbor.

Her color for her dress was turquoise, so I used Bermuda Bay.  I really like how it turned out!!

here is what I stamped on the inside.

We went to her Mass and then to the hall and had a yummy meal.  It was fun watching all the kids have fun too!

Stamp set: Quinceanera
Ink: Black Staz-On and Bermuda Bay
Card stock: Thick Whisper White, Bermuda Bay and Basic Black
Silver Glimmer paper
Dazzling Diamonds

Valentine's Late

While going through my blog today I noticed that I forgot to share this Valentine card with you.  You can easily change the heart and sentiment to anything you want.  In fact, this is a CASE from the Occcasions catalog on page 4, in the lower left hand corner.

So sorry it's late.  Things have been busy around here, again.  My father was in the hospital last weekend, so I was busy tending to him.  He had the flu and is now doing much better and back in his own room again.

I used Real Red and Whisper White card stock, Gold Glimmer paper, Gold Sequins, Black Memento ink and Real Red ink and the Happy Hearts embossing folder.

I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful weather we are having!!  Mary

Love Notes and Sealed with Love Valentine

Good Monday afternoon!  Man oh man, I tried to make this post yesterday but for some reason the picture would not load to my computer!  So I updated the operating system on my iMAC, still nothing, after much Googling I found out that the photo editing program I use has "retired".  I think I found a way to still get the pictures on my computer, not I just need to remember how I did it!!

This is the last of my Valentine cards for this year, now on to birthday cards.  Here is one that, well, didn't start out the way I wanted to, but I think it turned out fine.

Here is what I used:

Card stock: Thick Whisper White
Stamp set: Sealed with Love
Ink: Real Red
Framelits: Love Notes and Stitched Circle
Red Glimmer paper

I probably should have held the card closed so that you could view the right edge better, oh well, next time, right?!

I hope you have a lovely Valentine day on Tuesday.  See you soon!  Mary

Baby Bear Valentine Card

Well I'm on track to get my Valentine cards done this week, then onto some birthday cards for my two aunts and one uncle.

My daughter asked for a Valentine card for a friend of her's that she became pen pals with when she was still in grade school.  Her sweet pen pal is old enough to be her Grandmother!  Their special connection is there fascination with the Titanic!  They lost touch for about 15 years but have recently been writing to each other again!

This is the card that I made for her to send.

Here is what I stamped on the inside of her card.

I hope she likes her card.

Stamp sets: Baby Bear, Teeny Tiny Wishes, and Dragonfly Dreams
Card stock: Very Vanilla
DSP: Sending Love
Ink: Real Red
Red Glimmer Paper
Border punch for the small hearts-retired

Thanks....Mary

Balloon Pop-Up Valentine

Good Monday to you, did your favorite team win the Super Bowl yesterday?  I must confess, I was busy doing other things and didn't watch!

This week will be Valentine week again, I hope.  Hubby and I have to attend a funeral this morning and I have a feeling that we won't get too much done after that.  It is for a man that we knew through a friend and church and we are sad to say good-bye to him, he was a wonderful person!

Now for the card.  This card was one that I saw on a Facebook Group for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators only and I loved how the demonstrator use the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlit in the most unusual way.  I asked if I could CASE it and she said yes.  You can see Linda's card and photo tutorial on how to make it HERE.  My one daughter loves purple, and the other one loves pink, so I'm going with the combo of Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry.  It is so much prettier in person than what pictures can show!  Here is the outside front of the card.

Here is the inside of the card.

After I took this picture, I realized that I should have stamped a couple of the small sentiments from the Sealed with Love onto the two purple/pink hearts.  I may still try to add to those, if possible.  To see the pictures close-up, just click on it.

Update:  Here is a close up of the hearts with some stamping on them.

Card stock: Whisper White, Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry
Ink: Pink Flamingo and Rich Razzleberry
Silver Glimmer Paper
Stamp set: Sealed with Love
Thinlits: Balloon Pop-Up

I hope your week if off to a wonderful start and hope to be back on Wednesday.  Mary

Dragonfly Dreams

I needed a birthday card for my friend, Linda, and decided to try my hand using the Dragonfly Dreams and Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits for her card.  It's ok, her birthday was yesterday, so she should have received her card by now.

Linda likes the rich, dark colors of green, so I decided to use some of my retired DSP, Botanical Gardens from last year.  I also wanted to use some Gold Foil so that the Dragonfly would stand out from the background.  Here is what I came up with.

I think she will really like it too.  I used a piece of Gold Foil paper large enough to cut out the Dragonfly and then used that piece to mount my DSP on, little to no waste that way too!  I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set, Dragonfly Dreams, that coordinates with the Thinlits, using Black Memento ink.  I also made a black dragonfly and mounted that on the inside with a small strip of Gold Foil and DSP.  I stamped, "Enjoy your special day!"  The card base is Very Vanilla, as that is what is in the DSP.

I hope she likes it!!  Mary

Lift Me Up

I was needing some Thank You cards for a couple of Online orders that were placed with me.  So I decided to make some Birthday cards and I wrote a note on a post-it note so the ladies can send these cards, if they choose too.  I wanted to get them done quickly, so I CASE'd the Occasions Catalog, on page 10.  Makes it so easy to use what Stampin' Up! shares with it demonstrators!!

I followed it except I stamped the sentiment, "Hope your day is on cloud nine.  Happy Birthday" on the inside.  Here is what I used:

Stamp set: Lift Me Up and Timeless Testures
Thinlits: Up & Away
Card stock: Thick Whisper White, Crumb Cake
Inks: Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy, Delightful Dijon, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Pool Party
Aqua Painter
Dimensional

I stamped and cut the balloons and clouds out one night and assembled all three cards the next day.  I really like how they turned out and easy to mail too!!

Thanks for coming by!!  Mary
