Bear Hugs

Honor Memorial Day to all of you, I hope you had a day filled with great food and family and of course remembering our Veterans and the sacrifices that they all made!

Next month my Dad is turning 89, wow, it's hard to believe that he is going to be that old too, just doesn't seem possible to me.  So I needed to get busy and make a special card for him.

When we were at church, we saw in our bulletin that a friend of ours is having his birthday on Saturday, so I thought I would make him a card too while I was making my dad's card.  Since both of them like to fish I knew it would have to have some kind of fishing items on the front and this is the card I came up with.

I went with the stamp set and matching framelits, Bear Hugs.  At first I was not going to invest in this set, but when I found out that it would be carried over into the main catalog I went ahead and order them both, so glad I did too!

I used the soon to be retired Scallop Framelit to represent the water part on my card front, cutting it out of Soft Sky and sponging it with Marina Mist.  Then I took a piece of Pear Pizzazz and tore that to represent the grass next to the water.  Then I pulled out my "old faithful" Lovely as a Tree to make the background tree line with.  I stamp it in Black Stazon on Whisper White card stock and then sponged on Pear Pizzaz, Always Artichoke and Soft Sky.  I then used my non-SU die to cut it out with.  Click on the picture to see a larger picture of the card.

For the Bear, first I stamped the image using Black Stazon on Very Vanilla card stock.  I then used the frame lit to cut it out with.  I used Hello Honey and sponged it all over my cut-out, then used Crumb Cake and Early Espresso ink to add depth and highlights to the image.  I then stamped with Black Stazon using the fish stamp and cut it out with the matching frame lit.  I used my Stampin Write markers in Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral and Always Artichoke.  I used Linen Thread to hold my fish with.

Here is the inside of my card using Lovely as a Tree and a sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin set.

This is so cute!!  Thank you for coming by to see me today, I appreciate it!  Mary

Swirly Scribbles

This frame lit, I believe, will be a hit with a lot of people when they see it.  There are some really cute cards being made using these framelits and the coordinating stamp set called Swirly Bird, which is also being offered as a bundle in the new catalog on page 152, #142353.

I found this card on Pinterest, Kelly Kent used the new In Colors and I decided to use the retiring In Colors.  For the sentiment we both used the stamp set called Thoughtful Banners.

I used different words and I also used a Whisper White panel to stamp on with the stripe from the Thoughtful Banners set, then cut out the swirly design, then I adhere the panel to a card base using the Thick Whisper White card stock.  I popped the swirl design up using small pieces of dimensionals to the back.  I stamped the words I wanted on strips of scrap card stock and then just snipped them out and aligned the words to that same color.

A nice, clean and simple design which you could easily change the words to fit for the occasion you need one for.  Mary

Moroccan Nights

One of the nice things about going to OnStage this past April is getting a few of the new stamp sets that are going to be in the new catalog starting on June 1st.  If you need a catalog, I'd be happy to mail you one out, all you need to pay is for shipping.  For my customers who place orders with me through out the year, get one for free!

This particular set is one that Sara demonstrated with Shelli from the stage, then all of the demonstrators were given one to take home, woohoo!

I saw a card similar to this one over on Stamping with Amy K, she used the new In Colors for 2016-2018 and a different sentiment.  I decided to use the retiring In Colors 2014-2016.  It made for a pretty card!

I used Sahara Sand for my card base.  Whisper White was used for the panels.  First I used VersaMark ink to stamp the big medallion stamp with, then White embossing powder.  Heat emboss, then cut your card stock into three equal pieces.  I choose, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss to sponge onto my panels, then I used a tissue to wipe the excess ink from the embossed image. I then adhered these pieces to another panel cut just slightly bigger, as a mat.  I used my circle punches to punch out my circles with.  The sentiment is from Painter's Palette.  I added some Pool Party 3/8" Glitter ribbon to the back of the circle.  Pretty easy, simple card to make.

Marquee Messages

As a demonstrator we get to pre-order selected stamp sets when a new catalog is getting ready to be release, a whole month in advance.  Well this stamp set was one that was in our OnStage bags, Marquee Messages, and I really like it!

There are a lot of great cards out on the internet using this set too.  I choose to do mine with the soon to be retired In Color 2014-2016, which I will miss.

I choose to use Blackberry Bliss for the card base, then Lost Lagoon, Tangelo Twist and Hello Honey card stock for the sentiment, yes I did have to fussy cut, but it really is not bad at all.  I use Dazzling Details in Silver for the lights, but you can easily use Basic Rhinestones too.  For the Whisper White card stock, I decided to run it through the Big Shot with the Brick Wall embossing folder and then lightly sponged it with Crumb Cake ink.  I stamped the "stars" on the back of Glimmer Paper and then hand cut those out too.  I used the White Gel Pen to fill in along the one side of the sign.

This would be a good card to send to someone who needs encouragement as the inside sentiment says, "no, really you are."

Well I'm off to get some work done, see you later in the week!  Mary

Painter's Palette

I wanted to share a new stamp set that is in the new Stamping' Up! catalog for 2016-2017.  They have some really nice things in this new catalog.

As a demonstrator, I can order some of the new stamps to share with all of you, oh what fun!!

Everything that I used on the card is in this stamp set, so many nice images to use.

I did use the soon to be retired In Colors for this card, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist.  I masked the side of my card and used the splatter stamp to make a small border and then used Linen Thread to tie around the card.  The easel stand was stamped with Sahara Sand.  Oh, I also used Very Vanilla card stock, which I need to use more often.

Thank you for dropping in......Mary

Build A Birthday

Today I'm going to show you the new 2016 In Colors in a different smaller way.

For this card I used Stampin' Up!'s note cards.  I know you've heard me mention them before and I highly recommend that you keep these on hand, they are so handy to have to make a really quick card with.

For this card I used the Tree Builder punch to make my In Color flowers with basic pearls added to the centers.  I made a mat layer with the Emerald Envy and I also used the new embossing folders, Floral Affection.  This card is so pretty in real life!  I used Wink of Stella for the raised dots, which adds just a touch of shimmer to the card.  The sentiment is from Build A Birthday, but any sentiment could easily be used.  I found a card similar to this, except Angela McKay used the Crumb Cake note cards and a different sentiment, she made hers to be used as a wedding thank you note.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing the new colors.  Now onto some new stamp sets, two that we got when we attended OnStage!   Mary

New In Colors 2016

Hi everyone, I hope you had a great week last week!  I was really busy with different things and just didn't have time to create too much.  I always make my cards for the coming week on each Sunday, well, that just didn't happen last week.  I do have some cards that I made with the five new In Colors for 2016.  I thing they are pretty.  My favorite is blue and my least favorite is the green.  So here we go with some new stuff!

This is Flirty Flamingo

This is Peekaboo Peach

This is Dapper Denim

This is Sweet Sugarplum

This is Emerald Envy

The stamp set is from Paper Pumpkin, it was the bonus set, All About Everything, that they included for that month after reaching one million subscriptions.

I have new catalogs, if you have placed a $50.00 this past year, you will automatically receive a catalog from me.  If you would like to receive a new catalog, I will send you one for the cost of shipping priority mail.  Just send me a e-mail and I'll get one right out to you.

Oh I used the Butterfly Framelits for this card and a basic rhinestone too.

Thank for stopping in today to see me!  Mary

Best Thoughts

While I still had this stamp set on my table I thought I would make another card with it.  This time using Wisteria Wonder.

My friends' mother-in-law loves purple, so I thought I would make her a card to give to her, I hope she will like it.

I CASE'd Vicki Burdick, you can see her card here.  I really like how mine turned out!

I used Whisper White and Wisteria Wonder card stock.  Inks were Wisteria Wonder, Soft Sky and Old Olive and I used a Daffodil Delight marker to color in the stamens with.  I stamped the main image with Black Stazon first, then stamped another one on some copy paper, cut it out and then used that as a mask to protect the first image while stamping the others on each side.  I used a Aqua painter to color in the images with.  The sentiment is from Birthday Blooms.  I like to color, so I really like doing this type of card too.

I hope you have a wonderful day too, thanks for stopping in.  Mary

Best Thoughts

Good day to all of you, I'm so glad you decided to stop in to see me today!

The stamp set I'm using today is a retiring Hostess set called Best Thoughts.  The last couple days I've seen several people using this set to water color with, so I wanted to try my hand at it too.  This one was inspired by Melissa Davies HERE.

I did my card just a bit different than her.  I used the new In Color 2016-2018 called Sweet Sugarplum!  I used Black Stazon ink for the main image on Whisper White card stock and then pooled some ink in the pad lid and used my Aqua Painter to paint the image in with my color.  The leaves and stem, I used Old Olive.  I used Gorgeous Grunge and stamped the splatter image with Daffodil Delight and then some Soft Sky to outline the whole image with.

I wrapped retiring Whisper White 5/8" satin ribbon on the bottom and use scraps of card stock to make my banners with.  Then I added a few Basic Pearls and called it good.

I'm sending this card to Shannon West at Stamping' Up!, she recently started a campaign called, #imbringingbirthdaysback, so some of us thought we would send her some cards for her birthday too!
