Bloom With Hope, Revisited

Are you sick of seeing this stamp set yet?  Well, I only have two new stamp sets, this one and the Work Of Art, but I'm ready to start playing with some others next week, although I will be showing you one more on Monday, sorry about that!

For this card I just inked up the two stamps I wanted to use, one in Pool Party and the other one in Island Indigo, makes for a quick and easy card.  I saw a card like this on another demonstrators blog, but using a different stamp

Card stock is Whisper White, Pool Party and Island Indigo.  I punched the one flower with a non-SU 1-  1/2" scallop punch, which fit this flower really well.  I added a large pearl to the center too.

I would make a card like this again with some other punches, very simple and easy to make.  Have a great day.  Mary

Bloom with Hope

Well today I'm going to share two cards with you that I made with the new Hostess set called, Bloom with Hope.  I like it because you can color the flowers in with either markers or Blendabilities.  You could even ink up the images with ink and stamp on Whisper White that way too.  I'll have to give that a try and maybe on Friday I can show you a card made that way!

This card was made with Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate and Whisper White card stock, DSP is the Watercolor Wonder.  I used the Banner Framelits for my banners.  I also used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set for the splatter background, along with some Basic Pearls and Rhinestones.  I choose to make both cards sympathy as I didn't have any pre-made.  Oh that is Linen Thread wrapped around the base of the flowers.  I used Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Blendabilities to color the image with.
The second card I used my Color Coach to pick colors that would go with the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilites.  I was quite surprised that they suggested Calypso Coral!  So I pulled some out and went with it, I think it looks really well with the color image.  I used a strip/scrap of Daffodil Delight card stock that I ran thru the Decorative Dots embossing folder, wrapped some new thick Baker's Twine around (ops, I thought it was Calypso Coral but it is Crisp Cantaloupe), along with some Basic Rhinestones and Pearls.  The splatter is again added using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  The banner was cut out with the Banner Framelits.  Black Memento ink was used to stamp the images with.

It was a great day because I got to create and have fun with my ink and stamps, I hope you have a great one too!  Mary

Memorial Day

Thank you to all of the brave men and women to protect and fight for our freedom everyday, God Bless You All. Enjoy the following true story of two who did just that….

Captain Kangaroo passed away on January 23, 2004 at age 76, which is odd,
because he always looked to be 76. (DOB: 6/27/27) His death reminded me of
the following story.

Some people have been a bit offended that the actor, Lee Marvin, is buried
in a grave alongside 3 and 4 star generals at Arlington National Cemetery.
His marker gives his name, rank (PVT) and service (USMC). Nothing else.

Here's a guy who was only a famous movie star who served his time,
but why the does he rate burial with these guys? Well, following is the amazing
answer:

I always liked Lee Marvin, but didn't know the extent of his Corps
experiences.

In a time when many Hollywood stars served their country in the armed
forces often in rear echelon posts where they were carefully protected,
only to be trotted out to perform for the cameras in war bond promotions,
Lee Marvin was a genuine hero. He won the Navy Cross at Iwo Jima. There is
only one higher Naval award... the Medal of Honor.

If that is a surprising comment on the true character of the man, he
credits his sergeant with an even greater show of bravery.

Dialog from "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson": His guest was Lee
Marvin. Johnny said, "Lee, I'll bet a lot of people are unaware that you
were a Marine in the initial landing at Iwo Jima...and that during the
course of that action you earned the Navy Cross and were severely
wounded."

"Yeah, yeah... I got shot square in the bottom and they gave me the Cross
for securing a hot spot about halfway up Suribachi. Bad thing about
getting shot up on a mountain is guys getting shot hauling you down. But,
Johnny, at Iwo, I served under the bravest man I ever knew... We both got
the cross the same day, but what he did for his Cross made mine look cheap
in comparison. That dumb guy actually stood up on Red beach and directed
his troops to move forward and get the hell off the beach. Bullets flying
by, with mortar rounds landing everywhere and he stood there as the main
target of gunfire so that he could get his men to safety. He did this on
more than one occasion because his men's safety was more important than
his own life.

“That Sergeant and I have been lifelong friends. When they brought me off
Suribachi, we passed the Sergeant and he lit a smoke and passed it to me,
lying on my belly on the litter and said, ‘Where'd they get you Lee?' I
said, ‘Well Bob... if you make it home before me, tell Mom to sell the
outhouse!’

“Johnny, I'm not lying, Sergeant Keeshan was the bravest man I ever knew.

“The Sergeant's name is Bob Keeshan. You and the world know him as Captain
Kangaroo."

On another note, there was this wimpy little man on
PBS, gentle and quiet. Mr. Rogers is another of those you would least
suspect of being anything but what he now portrays to our youth. But Mr.
Rogers was a U.S. Navy Seal, combat-proven in Vietnam with over
twenty-five confirmed kills to his name. He wore a long-sleeved sweater on
TV, to cover the many tattoos on his forearm and biceps. He was a master
in small arms and hand-to-hand combat, able to disarm or kill in a
heartbeat.

After the war Mr. Rogers became an ordained Presbyterian minister and
therefore a pacifist. Vowing to never harm another human and also
dedicating the rest of his life to trying to help lead children on the
right path in life. He hid away the tattoos and his past life and won our
hearts with his quiet wit and charm.

America's real heroes don't flaunt what they did; they quietly go about
their day-to-day lives, doing what they do best. They earned our respect
and the freedoms that we all enjoy.

Look around and see if you can find one of those heroes in your midst.
Often, they are the ones you'd least suspect, but would most like to have
on your side if anything ever happened.

Take the time to thank anyone that has helped out for our freedom. With
encouragement, they could be the next Captain Kangaroo or Mr. Rogers

Hamburger Box

Well hello to all of you.  No stamping today, been busy painting a bedroom, yup that means the ceiling, baseboards and the walls!  Busy, busy for me.

I wanted to try making a hamburger box with the new die that Stampin' Up! is selling in the new catalog.  I didn't want to waste my good window sheets on a trial one, so I used some thinner, cheaper stuff that I have in the craft closet.

It did turn out fine, but definitely use some heavier stuff if you try it.

As this was a trial one, I just threw in a ink spot and some filler and tied it shut with the thicker baker's twine (something new in the upcoming catalog).  Of course you could make it pretty as you would like.
I used glue dots to shape the box with.  I don't know maybe sticky strip would not show?
I didn't have any filler, so I used the tissue paper that comes each month in the Paper Pumpkin package!  I folded it over several times and cut it with my fringe scissors!
Here it is cut before fluffing….
Here it is after fluffing!  Now I can hoard save all of the blue tissue paper that comes each month in my Paper Pumpkin!!

I hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing week-end.  Our's going to be a very quite one and I hope I get to play in the craft room too!   Mary

May Paper Pumpkin

Today I have a quick and easy card that I made from the May Paper Pumpkin kit that I received last week.  I've been busy creating some of the past kits and projects that I've gotten, trying to clean up some un-finished projects.  So I hope you don't mind me showing you one today!

The kits come with pre-cut card bases, embellishments, etc. and a how-to directions on how to put them together.  Of course, you can always switch things around and put your own flair on the cards too!

The kits are easy to assemble, and sometimes, that is a good thing!  There are days when I'm glad that I can still create and not really have to think about what I'm going to do.

This kit is called Hey, Man and as you guess, it is to make cards for the guys in your life.  It has three small stamps that fit on the small tags that include, Dad, Son and Bro.  Great colors for a man's card.

Thanks for stopping in to see me, I appreciate it so much too.   Mary

Work of Art Flower

I've been seeing a lot of cards on Facebook and the internet of flowers that demonstrators have made using the new Work of Art stamp set, so I thought I would try my hand at making one too.

I used the new In-Colors, Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon and Mossy Meadow.  For card stock I used Whisper White and Lost Lagoon.  I added a Basic Rhinestone to the heart for a little bit of bling.

This card went together FAST!

It's nice to see how other people can "think out of the box" with their stamps and supplies, I'm glad that they share!!   Mary

Bloomin' Beautiful, Take Two

Well I had time the other day to color in my second image with my Blendabilities and I'm liking them the more I color with them!  They were formulated to work with Stampin' Up! Whisper White and Very Vanilla card stock, so you don't have to buy special paper to use them.

This time I used the Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight and the Old Olive ones.  I also used Rich Razzleberry card stock and wow, it really make the image POP and it is so rich and elegant looking too, I wish my picture would show that better!

The stamp set is Bloomin' Beautiful, retired, Rich Razzleberry ribbon, retired and Scripted embossing folder, retired too.  Other card stock is Old Olive and Whisper White.

Now I need to try the Blendabilites with the new Hostess Set, it has a lot of nice flower images in it that looks like it was made just for these markers!  Mary

Bloomin' Beautiful

Good Monday morning, I hope your week will be great this week.  I'm off to have breakfast with one of my friends this morning.

I decided to pull this stamp set out and play with my new Blendabilities last night.  They are the new alcohol markers that Stampin' Up! is selling and since I like to color, I just had to try them.  So I went on the hunt for a stamp that would lend itself well to coloring and came up with this older retired set.  The image I choose was a simple one, for my first try.  I have another one all stamped and ready for me to color later today.  I used Memento black ink for my image.

I used the Pumpkin Pie trio and the Old Olive trio to color with.  I mounted it on Daffodil Delight, then Island Indigo.  Wrapped some retired SAB ribbon around the bottom to finish it off with.  I used the the Work of Art for the sentiment, which I stamped in Whisper White Craft ink.  I ran my Pool Party thru the new Decorative Dots embossing folder and mounted it all on a Whisper White card base.

There you have it a simple card!  Thanks for stopping in!  Mary

Well Scripted

Hi to all.  I hope you are all doing well have enjoyed your week and will enjoy your week-end too.

Today I'm showing you the Mother's Day card that I barely remember I need to still make! Boy has the time really flown by this month and almost caught me without one to give to my mom.

I went with easy, quick and simple for this card.  The card front panel was put thru the Flower Garden embossing folder (which will retire come June 1, 2014).  The ribbon is also retired, Pretty In Pink.  The pink card stock is Pink Pirouette and I also used Whisper White.  The sentiment is from an older stamp set called Well Scripted, really like that font.  I used sponge daubers to apply the Pink Pirouette and Pistachio Pudding inks to the card front.  I used Black Staz-on for the sentiment and punched it out with the Extra-Large Oval punch.  I added some Basic Pearls and a Rhinestone to add some interest.

Thank you for coming to see my little blog, I appreciate it!  Mary
